What makes us different?
We know how our competitors operate. We offer a more efficient, cost-effective and comprehensive service whilst retaining a personal but professional approach.
Hilton Law opened its doors in June 2009, and was based in Spinningfields, Manchester’s business and legal district.
In February 2020, we opened our Altrincham office on Market Street, just alongside the now-thriving Market.
Mark Hilton, the firm’s founding partner, has 25 years’ experience as a commercial litigator in the North West.
Having identified a growing need in the business sector for a new approach to the ever-expanding world of commercial dispute work, Mark established Hilton Law, seeking to provide an improvement on the level and quality of service sought by clients.
Mark’s former colleague at DLA, Nick Scott, joined the firm in 2011, adding another quarter century-plus years of legal and commercial experience.
We endeavour to offer fast, round-the-clock access to legal advice and assistance, at significantly lower rates than our competitors.
The world is an increasingly contentious place, but clients are often deterred from pursuing strong claims (or defending weak or frivolous actions) due to the perception of spiralling costs and the diversion of resources away from the running of their businesses.
Additionally, clients will often try to embark on non-contentious transactional matters without having to spend what often seems like excessive and disproportionate time and money on lawyers, only to find that the contractual documentation in place does not achieve what it was originally intended.
We have invested in our technology and know-how, and – in focusing on our services, expertise and approach, rather than on expansion and domination of the legal market – we have avoided the overheads of our competitors, to offer a high quality but cost-effective solution.
We specialize in commercial dispute resolution and commercial transactional work, and full details of the range of areas and services we offer are detailed on these pages.
Your case will not be handled by a trainee or junior assistant, as is so often the case. Instead at Hilton Law you and your business will only ever deal with a senior and highly-experienced lawyer, with your interests at heart.
I set up the firm in June 2009 as a commercial practice specialising in commercial disputes, with particular focus on contractual, intellectual property and employment disputes.
In October 2011 the firm merged with Alderson Legal which was set up by my former colleague (from DLA days) Nick Scott in February 2009.
Although the firm also handles non-contentious matters, including IP and employment issues, the firm’s commercial litigation specialisms now extend to shareholder & boardroom disputes, as well as handling professional negligence claims, and general commercial claims.
My specialities are intellectual property, employment and commercial contracts,
When not tending to my clients’ needs, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching Manchester United and going to the theatre and cinema.
I have specialised in the resolution of commercial disputes for over 25 years. I have worked with a vast range of businesses across many different business sectors, providing pragmatic and commercially focused advice.
My objective is always for my clients to obtain the best possible outcome for their dispute. I believe in offering a straight forward assessment of the merits of a case as soon as possible. This avoids unnecessary costs and delays.
I have particular experience in the following areas:
• Shareholder disputes
• Unfair prejudice actions
• Disputes between directors and partners
• Employment law advice
• Professional negligence claims
Like Mark, I enjoy time with the family – mine, not his – as well as outdoor pursuits including triathlon and rugby.
